Programme of the course
The course is a mixture of lectures, practical sessions and tutorials. A resident faculty of international experts teach most of the lectures and take the tutorials. A visiting faculty give additional lectures. The lectures cover a broad range of subjects including the diagnosis, classification and descriptive epidemiology of type 1 and 2 diabetes (and pre-diabetes), an introduction to field techniques and methodological problems of exposure measurement in diabetes surveys and the scope for prevention of diabetes and the planning of intervention programmes. Other topics that are covered include the epidemiology of the complications of diabetes, the principles and practice of screening and the evaluation of interventions.
Programme :: Final
Extra-curricular activities will include: international cuisine event, musical programme, punting on the river Cam, sporting activities and other team-building activities. As the 2006 Seminar coincides with the 25th Anniversary of the Seminar series, there will be a conference dinner to celebrate this event.
Applicants are invited to bring any musical instrument(s) as there will be a musical evening and they will be welcome to play something of their choice.
