Rebecca Simmons is an Investigator Scientist working on the prevention of chronic disease. She read Human Sciences at Hertford College, Oxford, and Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. She subsequently carried out research into the primary prevention of diabetes and obtained her PhD from the MRC Epidemiology Unit, at Wolfson College, Cambridge. Rebecca’s current research focuses on risk identification, screening and the primary and secondary prevention of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. She is particularly interested in developing primary prevention strategies for larger groups of people at lower absolute risk of chronic disease. Rebecca is involved in teaching epidemiology and statistics to Cambridge medical and veterinary students and MPhil Epidemiology students. She is also a tutor on the London School's distance learning MSc course in Epidemiology.
