Biography

Ulf Ekelund is the Group Leader of the Physical Activity Epidemiology Programme. His research focuses on the development and evaluation of physical activity measurement techniques. More recently his research has focused on understanding the dose-response associations between sedentary behaviour and physical activity, with obesity, metabolic and other chronic diseases across the life span. He also has strong interest in the biological determinants of physical activity, such as genotype and early life growth, and how these variables may modify the associations between physical activity and chronic disease.

Ulf obtained his PhD in medical nutrition at the Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. He then did his post-graduate training in epidemiology at the University of Cambridge.
