I am a senior scientist at the MRC Epidemiology Unit, following earlier positions as statistician (2002-4) at University College London (Department of Epidemiology and Public Health), postdoc research worker and lecturer (1996-2002) at King's College London (Institute of Psychiatry, zhao69, zhao66), visiting scientist (1994-6) at Harvard University (School of Public Health and Channing Laboratory) and research associate (1988-94) at Ministry of Health (Center for Health Statistics Information), China. I had a PhD in Genetics (2004, King's College London), master's (1988, Fudan University) and bachelor's (1985, Shandong University) degrees in medicine.

Research

My field is related to statistics, epidemiology and public heatlth and I am a member of the Royal Statistical Society. Here are my biosketch and notes. Recently, I have been involved with design/analysis in Whitehall II, ELSA, EPIC-Norfolk, InterAct cohort studies, and participated a number of genetic analysis workshops including one on FraminghamThe EPIC-Norfolk gonomewide association study has contributed to many consortia such as GIANT and CHARGE.

I am keen on reproducible research and have promoted genetic data analysis with R through a presentation at useR!2007  and tutorials at useR!2008, useR!2009, useR!2010, a talk at useR!2011, Henry-Stewart and local talks as with sofware and publications for genetics with R/S-Plus. My occasional collects of bookmarks are named MRC, UCL and KCL with comments and a diagram by AMOS.

My software page is accessible via RockefellerCRAN and Google. Comments or information on citations is welcome.

Referees

I have refereed papers for journals (The Lancet, Arch Gerentol Geriatr, Alg Mol Biol, Am J Hum Genet, Ann Hum Genet, Bioinformatics, BMC Med Genet, BMC Med Genomics, Cancer Informatics, Diabetologia, Envir Entomol, Euro J Hum Genet, Hum Hered, IJHG, J Appl Stat, J Med Sys, JRSSC (Appl Statist), Int J Cancer, NeurMol Med, Obesity, Plant Breeding, PLoS Medicine, Psychiatric Genet, Stat Meth Med Res, The Open Epidemiol J ) and applications for fellowship to the UK Wellcome and program grants to the MRC, the US NSF and The Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development (ZonMw).
