SAMS
Supporting Adherence to hypoglycaemic Medication Study
Some patients do not take their medication when they should. This can be for many reasons such as starting to feel better, forgetting to take the medication or finding it difficult to take it.
SAMS is a study that aims to improve our understanding of ways to increase the number of people that continue taking their medication when they should. The study is looking at a method for supporting people with type 2 diabetes to ensure that they continue taking their medication regularly and correctly. The study has recruited 226 participants from 13 general practices in Cambridgeshire and Oxfordshire.
For this study the MRC Epidemiology Unit is collaborating with:
- the Department of Primary Health Care at the University of Oxford
- the General Practice and Primary Care Research Unit at the University of Cambridge.
