SPEEDY: Sport, Physical Activity and Eating behaviour:  Environmental Determinants in Young people

SPEEDY is a study looking at the health of children, what activities they do and what they eat. We are especially interested in what you think about physical activity and healthy eating.

Last year we visited your school and asked you to fill out a questionnaire and our research staff took some simple measurements:

Questionnaire - We asked you to fill out a questionnaire about what activities you do, what you eat and how you feel about different things in your life.

Your height, weight and how you are built - We used scales and tapes to measure these.

Saliva test - We asked you to chew a small piece of cotton wool and place it in a container.

Activity - We asked you to wear a small activity monitor on a belt around your waist for a week.

Food Diary – We gave you a food diary to take home with you and you wrote down in everything you ate and drank for four days. It also had some questions about what you usually eat and how much you like to eat certain things.
