Working closely with others

Our research is closely integrated with basic science, so that we can attempt to determine the biological basis for our epidemiological observations. The MRC Epidemiology Unit is, therefore, part of the Institute of Metabolic Science which builds on the basic science strengths in Cambridge in this field of biology. Within this Institute we work closely with the University of Cambridge Metabolic Research Laboratories and the Addenbrooke's Hospital Clinical Care Centre.

For us to be able to translate our research findings into preventive action requires another set of collaborations. We achieve these by being part of the University of Cambridge Institute of Public Health. This Institute contains components from the University of Cambridge, the National Health Service (NHS) and the Medical Research Council (MRC).
