Data Management Team

Large amounts of data are generated by the studies that the MRC Epidemiology Unit is involved in. The key role of the Data Management Team is to manage this data from the point of generation to its use by investigators within the Unit and beyond.  This includes standardising data entry and storage, data access and providing appropriate support to all aspects of research related data. This ensures that data generated by the Unit is consistent and of a high quality so that it can be efficiently processed and analysed.

The Data Management Team plays a leading role in the adoption of new technologies. These maximise data sharing and access but maintain appropriate security and access controls. This is carried out in conjunction with the Unit’s IT Team. Examples of this include the development of electronic questionnaire forms for studies and a system to combine phenotypic and genotypic data.
