European Union Projects Team
Within the MRC Epidemiology Unit a team of staff manage the European Union (EU)-funded research grants.
The EU Projects Team liaises with internal Unit staff and external bodies such as the European Commission (EC) and Medical Research Council (MRC). It coordinates all of the EU-funded projects within the MRC Epidemiology Unit and supports applications from the Unit for new European grants. It also assists with the distribution of publicity materials for all EU funded research projects.
A major role of the team is to coordinate the study InterAct. This is a large ‘Integrated Project’ which has 30 different partners with 35 research groups from nine European countries and India. It communicates with all of the research groups involved in InterAct in Europe and India coordinating the scientific and financial reporting of the study and monitoring the entire project budget. The team also:
- organise large scale research meetings and conferences for the scientific teams
- manage the InterAct training programme for junior scientists
- manage the InterAct project website, secure intranet and online scientific paper review process
- organise the distribution of publicity materials such as posters, leaflets, press releases, brochures etc.
