Study Coordination Team
The main role of the Study Coordination Team is to manage the recruitment of volunteers into studies at the MRC Epidemiology Unit. They are responsible for promoting our studies to maximise the number of volunteers recruited. They communicate directly with potential volunteers by telephone and/or letter to ensure that they are clear about what they are volunteering to do and what they should expect during a visit to our testing sites. The team also ensures that high quality research data is collected from volunteers but that their civil rights, safety and wellbeing are protected throughout the process.
The Study Coordination Team consists of a group of Study Coordinators and supporting staff. Study Coordinators project manage the various epidemiological studies across the three testing sites in Cambridge, Ely and Wisbech. They liaise directly with the Scientific Group Leaders and other members of the Unit to implement and support the process of data collection from volunteers.
The Study Coordination Team operates systems and processes to ensure that the methods used and the information given out by the coordinators meets with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines. This team also ensures that the Unit adheres to the latest legisalative policies and protects the privacy of volunteers.
