Access keys and skiplink in use on this site
We are introducing access keys to MRC Epidemiology Unit web pages.
Access keys
Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key (in Internet Explorer you need to then press Enter); on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key. The access keys used are as follows:
- Access key 1 - Home page.
- Access key 2 - Skip to content.
- Access key 4 - Search page.
- Access key 0 - Access key details (this page).
- Access key E - Events.
In Opera, pressing Shift+Esc lists all access keys used on the page, which can then be activated from that point using the single key alone.
On Windows/Linux Firefox 2.0 requires Shift + ALT + Access Key
Skiplink
There is a link at the top of the new template which is hidden from graphical browsers, but which will be spoken or available via Lynx. It links directly to the start of the page content, after the navigation, so that users have direct access.
