Tom White is a PhD student within the Physical Activity Epidemiology programme.
Prior to starting his PhD Tom was a Data Scientist in the Physical Activity Epidemiology and Behavioural Epidemiology programmes at the MRC Epidemiology Unit. His main role is to support the development of novel methodologies to analyse objective physical activity data.
Tom earned degrees in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science at undergraduate level and Advanced Computer Science at postgraduate level, both from the University of Birmingham. His previous work includes research in the fields of robotics, machine learning and combinatorial optimisation.
He is currently responsible for managing and processing the physical activity data in a number of studies, including ICAD, EPIC, Fenland, Sedentary Time Validation Study, SPACE, SPEEDY, and Get Moving.
