Dr. Edward Gregg
Dr. Edward Gregg serves as Chief of the Epidemiology and Statistics Branch in the Division of Diabetes Translation at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where his current efforts involve oversight of the National Diabetes Surveillance system and the integration of surveillance, epidemiology, health services, and economic studies at CDC to better guide health policy for diabetes. His research interests include surveillance of national and international trends in diabetes and related risk factors as well as the impact of lifestyle interventions on the risk of diabetes and related complications.
Ed has ongoing major roles in research studies including the United States National Diabetes Surveillance System, NEXT-D (Natural Experiments in Translation for Diabetes), CAMDI (Central America Diabetes Initiative), The Look AHEAD Study, and The Da Qing Diabetes Prevention Follow-up Study. Being actively engaged inresearch, he has published over 150 scientific papers, and has also been the recipient of achievement medals and service to Public Healtlh medals. Ed obtained his PhD in chronic disease epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh.
