Sonja Klingberg is a PhD student in the Behavioural Epidemiology programme. She is based in CEDAR, and supervised by Dr Esther Van Sluijs and Dr Sara Benjamin Neelon. Sonja’s PhD will focus on school-based interventions for childhood obesity prevention in South Africa. She is particularly interested in implementation research in low resource settings.
Prior to joining the MRC Epidemiology Unit and CEDAR, Sonja worked on an interdisciplinary health research project at Uppsala University in Sweden, which is where she completed her Master’s degree in International Health in 2015. Sonja also has a BA in International Development from the University of East Anglia, and she has worked in Nepal, Zambia, Uganda, Finland, Sweden, and the UK.
