Current work and interests
Chunxiao is a PhD student on a Jardine Cambridge Scholarship, working under the supervision of Prof. Nicholas Wareham in the Aetiology of Diabetes and Related Metabolic Disorders programme. Her research interest lies in investigating the effects of environmental and behavioural changes, in interaction with a genetic predisposition in type 2 diabetes risk in the general population.
Background and experience
Prior to joining the Unit, Chunxiao completed her Master’s degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Peking University in 2018. During the 3-year course, she participated in the Chinese National Twin Registration and China Kadoorie Biobank study groups with systematically training in epidemiology research. Her Master’s study mainly focused on the epigenome-wide association between DNA methylation and blood lipid levels, and obesity. Her study also looked at the epigenetic clock of ageing based on DNA methylation biomarkers. Chunxiao has obtained a Bachelor of Medicine from Qilu Medical School, Shandong University with honours in 2015.
