MRC Epidemiology Unit PhD student Stasa Stankovic was recently awarded a ‘Leading Europe 2022’ scholarship and attended the One Young World Summit in Manchester as the only delegate of Serbia.
One Young World identifies, connects and promotes the world’s most impactful young leaders to create a better world, with more responsible and effective leadership. The annual One Young World Summit convenes the brightest young talent from every country and sector, working to accelerate social impact. Delegates from over 190 countries are counselled by influential political, business and humanitarian leaders – this year including Paul Polman, and Meghan Markle.
The Leading Europe Scholarship provides the opportunity for young people to attend on the merit of their proven leadership and ability to create change in their home countries.
Stasa received this scholarship based on her scientific achievements in women’s health and reproduction at the MRC Epidemiology Unit, as well as her impact in Serbia by her founding of Innovation Forum Serbia, the first healthcare accelerator for start-ups in Serbia.
Stasa started Innovation Forum Serbia to help develop Serbian healthcare, as well as attracting investments and mentorship – including from AstraZeneca, Microsoft, Roche, Novartis, McKinsey, and the UK and Serbian Governments.
