Cambridge Science Festival – All Sweetness and Light?

March 22, 2015 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Free

Cambridge Science Festival @ the Clinical School, Sunday 22 March.

Join staff from the MRC Epidemiology Unit and CEDAR at the ‘All Sweetness and Light?’ stand, where we will be looking at the influence of sunlight and sugar on our health and how we use light in our studies to better understand obesity, diabetes and related disorders.

Visitors to our stand will find out how much peddling they need to do on an exercise bike to expend the energy found in a single sugar cube, and in our taste test they can discover how perception of sweetness differs between individuals. Our posters will examine the latest advice on how much sugar we should eat, the role of sunlight and vitamin D in health, and how we use DEXA and 3D photonic scans to examine how bone, lean and fat tissue is distributed around the body.

Suitable for ages 8+
