Data Manager
After completing his postgraduate studies in Engineering, Alvaro started his professional career in Information Management, and worked for several IT & Engineering companies in Madrid, Sophia Antipolis (France), and later in the UK.
Alvaro’s main expertise is the interpretation and use of big and not-so-big datasets to provide bespoke analysis to senior management, and to improve systems performance.
He has worked in areas like Business Intelligence for finance departments, the use of customers’ data to design better casinos and gaming systems, and automated record software for local governments.
Current work and interests
Alvaro was the Data Manager for many of the studies run by CEDAR, like DRCT (Diabetes Research Communication Trial), the Baby Milk study, SPEEDY, Nutrition in Nurseries, SPACE and GoActive, being in charge of the study databases design, and developing web and data related tools.
Recently, Alvaro has worked on GPS /geographical signal processing and on simulation models.
Alvaro’s main interests are business intelligence, data mining and unstructured text processing, but above all, using data to get an insight of complex processes, and to improve the quality of life.
