Background and experience
Jack completed his undergraduate degree in BSc Healthcare: Management, Policy and Research from the University of Southampton in 2018. His dissertation considered if practitioners in primary care were aware of and correctly applied the Chief Medical Officer alcohol guidelines in consultations with patients. Following this, Jack achieved an MPhil in Public Health from the University of Cambridge, where his thesis looked at the equity of trials of smoking cessation interventions delivered in primary care.
Jack worked as a research assistant in the Cancer Policy Research Centre at Cancer Research UK, where he was lead author of a report estimating that more than 100 million ready meals and takeaways were consumed in a week by adults in the UK. The report received widespread coverage, including being cited in Chapter 2 of the Government’s childhood obesity plan.
