Current work and interests

Olaniyi joined the MRC Epidemiology Unit in October 2023, working as a Clinical Research Assistant on the Fenland study. His role involves the investigation of the interaction between environmental and genetic factors in determining obesity, type 2 diabetes and related metabolic disorders.

Background and experience

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science and a Master’s degree in Chemical Pathology with over 18 years work experience in specialist and teaching hospitals in Nigeria. He worked as a project officer for CNDI, a research organization with focuses on child and adolescent neuropsychiatric disorders. He is a registered Biomedical Scientist both in Nigeria and UK. He benefited from US NIH Fogarty International Centre funded diploma in Research Ethics. Olaniyi is looking forward to further opportunities in clinical research.
