Dietary Assessment, Nutrition Measurement Platform
Current work and interests
Toni works as a senior nutritionist in the Nutrition Measurement Platform. She leads on the set up of dietary assessment measurements in research, surveillance and other health programmes. This includes leading on aspects of work to move the UK National Diet and Nutrition Survey Rolling Programme (NDNS) to an automated online 24hr recall: Intake24. Since 2018, she has been involved in the development of Intake24 for the NDNS and also further adaptations of Intake24, including for South Asia (South Asia Biobank) and patient populations.
Toni joined MRC Epidemiology in October 2018. Prior to this she worked for MRC Elsie Widdowson Laboratory, where she had supported dietary assessment projects, including the NDNS, since 2011.
Background and experience
Toni has a BSc (Hons) in nutrition and dietetics and a PhD in bacterial metabolism of dietary anti-carcinogens. Prior to her work on dietary assessment and the NDNS, she worked in Public Health Nutrition in primary care with a focus on childhood nutrition programmes and obesity. She also has an interest in nutrition science communication.
