Current work and interests
In July 2022, Struan joined as a Senior Research Coordination Assistant for the Glucose Lowering through Weight Management (GLoW) Study. Since then, he has joined the teams and contributes towards the completion of the DEBEAT Study, the Mandala and SALIENT Consortia, and the GACD PRONASA project in conjunction with the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
Struan will begin his PhD training within the Unit in October 2024 under the supervision of Dr Eleanor Winpenny and Professor Martin White. His research will centre around identifying, implementing, and evaluating food environment interventions to increase the whole plant food intake of first-year university students.
Background and experience
Since joining the Unit, Struan has assisted with two systematic reviews of eating behaviour traits (submitted) and the process evaluation for the SWiM-Feasibility Study (submitted).
Prior to joining the Unit in 2022, Struan completed the University of Bristol’s Nutrition, Physical Activity and Public Health MSc in 2021, and the University of Essex’s Marine Biology BSc in 2020.
