Population Health Interventions
Current work and interests
In October 2024, Struan began working as a PhD Student, supervised by Martin White and Eleanor Winpenny. within the Population Health Interventions programme. His research will explore promoting healthier and more sustainable diets amongst young people needing to take agency over their food choices for the first time in their lives by changing upstream determinants in university environments and food systems. Struan is a student of Wolfson College.
Background and experience
In July 2022, Struan joined as a Senior Research Coordination Assistant for the Glucose Lowering through Weight Management (GLoW) Study. Since then, he has joined the teams and contributes towards the completion of the DEBEAT Study, the Mandala and SALIENT Consortia, and the GACD PRONASA project in conjunction with the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
Since joining the Unit, Struan has assisted with two systematic reviews of eating behaviour traits (submitted) and the process evaluation for the SWiM-Feasibility Study (submitted).
Prior to joining the Unit in 2022, Struan completed the University of Bristol’s Nutrition, Physical Activity and Public Health MSc in 2021, and the University of Essex’s Marine Biology BSc in 2020.
